  • Why Photo Direct?
    Photo Direct is fast becoming one of Australia's most trusted and popular names in photo supplies and equipment. Our Internet print service has the largest amount of users in Australia.
  • How much does it cost and how do I pay?
    Each store has their own pricing structure & payment methods, these include payment on pick up of photos and all popular credit cards.
  • How do I choose the store I wish to order from?
    You can choose your preferred store from the list on the 'Choose a Retailer' page of this website.
  • When will my order be ready?
    When you place an order you will receive an e-mail with your order number. When the store has printed the order you will receive another email with details on how long until you receive your order depending on the delivery methods offered by each store.
  • How do I download the software?
    Simply by clicking on the download button the software will begin to download we suggest you save the software and then install it. Once you have downloaded the software you do not need to download it again to place further orders. You can place orders simply by accessing the software already installed on your PC, usually thru an icon on your desktop.
  • I received a message about upgrading. What do I need to do?
    When extra features are added to the software this results in an automatic upgrade when you use it. Follow the instructions in the pop up boxes. They will lead you through the download sequence so as you can successfully upgrade to the new version of the program.
  • What are the computer requirements to use this service?
    The Photo Direct online software was developed using Microsoft Internet Explorer technology to transfer digital images over the Internet. The software can be run on any PC that has an Internet connection and that has a Windows operating system (98SE/ME/2000/XP). Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 5.5 or higher should be installed on the PC, as certain IE components are needed
  • I have an Apple Macintosh, how do I send an order?
    We will soon be offering a Mac version of the software.
  • When I install it doesn't show any countries listed?
    To ensure your Firewall & Virus scan allows the software to access the internet, set it up as an exception by clicking allow when the firewall popup box displays. This will vary depending on the type of Firewall software you have installed. Hardware firewalls do not normally block the software as it only uses port 80 & 443.
  • Can I edit images myself?
    You can edit your images in the image editing program of your choice before ordering your prints. Once you have selected the images for your order, the software offers the function "Edit Image" for cropping, rotating or flipping the image. You will be able to view the effects of your editing prior to sending your image for processing.
  • Why do my prints only contain part of the image that I submitted?
    As the height-width ratio for digital images is normally different than that for prints from photo negatives, the software offers two methods to correct this problem. One method is printing the entire digital image on the selected print format (fit). This may result in white borders on the sides, as the height-width ratios are different. The other option is to fill the selected print size with the image . You can select one of these two options under "Edit". You can select the part of the image that you wish to have processed under the option "Edit" if you choose the fill method.
  • Do I really have to enter my personal data?
    Yes! Your personal data must be entered correctly. The order confirmation is sent to your e-mail address, as is the notice that the order has been processed. The telephone number is required so that you can be contacted in the unlikely event that there are problems or delays.
  • Is my Credit Card information encrypted for transmission?
    All Credit Card information is transmitted over an SSL connection. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a security protocol with which data is transmitted over an encrypted connection. This SSL connection is established automatically; the user need make no additional settings for this.
  • How long does it take to transmit my images?
    You can always see the size of your current order in the status line at the bottom of the screen under "Order Creator". Here, you will find the number of images and the size of the order in KB or MB. The following table provides you with a minimum time for the transmission of images.

    An exact time cannot be given due to differing connection speeds and connection problems, which means that the indicated times should be seen as the transmission time under optimal conditions – the procedure may at times take somewhat longer.
  • What can I do if my Internet connection is interrupted while I am transferring images?
    You can finish transmitting an interrupted order to the photo lab. To do this, click on "Order Management" and open the interrupted order. The transmission will begin again and will be completed.
