The VersaUV LEF-20 Benchtop UV flatbed printer is an innovative fully enclosed printer that can print CMYK and white ink, as well as clear effects on almost any substrate or dimensional object, up to 100mm thick. The most advanced printer in the LEF series has been upgraded to be faster, and more versatile than its predecessors. The print area on the LEF-20 has been increased to 508mm x330mm, so larger objects can be printed. The LEF-20 can print single items or short production runs, two times faster than its predecessor, the LEF-12. The superior technology makes the LEF-20 the most advanced printer in its class.
The LEF-20 can print objects up to 305 x 280 x 100mm, or 12 x 11 x 3.94” thick. Its superior technology allows for printing on virtually any media type, including three dimensional and curved objects such as, pens, awards, signs, giftware, promotional items, and even guitar bodies. Advanced ECO-UV ink and low heat UV lamps allows for printing on even electronic and heat sensitive plastic objects like cell phones and laptops. The remarkable LEF-20 capabilities doesn’t stop there though, it also can print on a variety of soft materials such as leather and fabric.
Advanced UV LED
The LEF-20 employs an unparalleled curing system which allows for a choice of matte or gloss finishes using the clear coat on a variety of substrates.
The UV LED lamps on the LEF are low-heat and energy efficient and last ten times longer than conventional UV lamps, with a lifespan of up to 10,000 hours. Unlike conventional LED lamps that heat to over 1500 degrees Fahrenheit, the LED lamps on the LEF-20 run at a much lower heat, eliminating risks such as damaged substrates and deformed media, even on heat sensitive objects. The LEF-20 utilizes an instant on/off function which means lamps can be turned on and off instantly. Also, the lamps on the LEF-20 are ready for use immediately once turned on, reducing production time.
Environmentally Friendly Ink
The LEF-20 is configured with CMYK + White + Clear ECO UV Inks. The configuration provides a high color density for exceptional printing. The clear coat can be built up to achieve three dimensional graphics with textures such as crocodile skin or faux leather, there are seventy two ready to use texture patterns available to use with the clear ink. With the CMYK + Clear + Clear three dimensional graphics are produced twice as fast as the normal ink mode.
On dark or transparent materials, CMYK + White + White mode can be used to achieve opacity of 1.4 times more than normal. This mode can also be used for creating an excellent underlayment for brighter graphics, or used for text and graphics alone.
The ECO-UV ink adheres to virtually any application including PVC, wood, acrylic, and plastic. The ink is chemical and scratch resistant with clear as a topcoat, making it an extremely durable option in indoor and outdoor applications. It is so durable in fact, that in outdoor applications, graphics can last up to two years.
ECO-UV ink has unmatched flexibility and can be stretched and applied around curves and edges without cracking.
With Roland’s Innovative Automatic Ink Circulation System, the LEF-20 prevents settling of white ink. The Automatic Ink Circulation System circulates the ink every eight hours. The system also reduces waste by monitoring and preventing ink discharge, and reduces maintenance and labor that decrease productivity.
VersaWorks RIP Software
LEF-20 features unique software, the VersaWorks RIP, which was exclusively designed for Roland products. VersaWorks RIP can be used simultaneously with up to four different printing devices. This Adobe Postscript 3 RIP produces exceptional output with an easy-to-use process. It is compatible with windows 7, XP, Vista and 2000.
The VersaWorks software functions uses the Roland Color System and Roland Texture Library which can produce one thousand spot colors and seventy textures that can be used on projects by layering the LEF-20 clear coat.
Laser Alignment System
The LEF-20 contains a built-in laser alignment system that allows users to quickly set up different materials. There are two methods utilized to set the laser’s point of origin. The first is the two point references which uses the lower right and upper left corner for reference points. The other is used more commonly for circular, curved or odd shaped items and requires users to manually input dimension. Both methods allow for accurate image placement.
The LEF-20 comes fitted with replaceable mist filters that help catch residual mist that can be sprayed while printing on curved objects. The filters reduce overspray and protect the printer’s internal components.
Pass Control Technology
With Roland’s pass control technology you can achieve smoother gradients and solid colors with no banding. The technology precisely controls dot placement between passes which allows for perfect high resolution printing.
Conventional UV curing equipment exposes users to cancer causing UV radiation and lung damaging ozone. The LEF-20 has been designed to avoid these harmful issues. The fully enclosed system protects the user from UV lights which can cause damage to the skin and eyes. The LED on the LEF is ozone free and only emits UV-A which is a safer UV than UV-B and UV-C, which standard printers release.
The design of the LEF-20 is energy efficient and can save thousands of dollars in energy bills. It automatically enters low-power mode when it has not been used for long periods of times. While in use, it uses a fraction of the power that regular UV printers use.
